  How Do I...
Listed below are a number of the most frequently asked questions of this website. If you have a question you feel need answering or feel may be helpful to add to this page, please contact the webmaster at admin@alanayckbourn.net.

HOW DO I...

...obtain Alan Ayckbourn's Autograph?

DON'T bid on and or buy it from Ebay. You will invariably pay over the odds for something easily available.
Alan is not precious about his autograph and signs practically everything he is asked to. To obtain Alan's autograph, the Stephen Joseph Theatre stocks signed copies of all of Alan's published plays. They also stock a range of souvenir programmes and posters (from £1.50 to £5) with Alan's signature on. To contact the shop, visit www.sjt.uk.com or call 01723 370540 and ask for the shop. The Shop will post internationally and will do its best to meet any requests.

...obtain Photographs of Alan Ayckbourn (or from productions of his plays) to use for either personal or publicity purposes (amateur and professional)?

Tony Bartholomew is the official photographer for the Stephen Joseph Theatre and the portraits of Alan used on this website are reproduced with kind permission by Tony. To obtain a photo of Alan, visit Tony's website at www.bartpics.co.uk and contact him from there.
Please do NOT reproduce any photographs from this website. They are the sole copyright of Tony Bartholomew, Adrian Gatie, Scarborough Theatre trust or the respective photographer and should not be reproduced in any form without express permission.
Production photos on this website will generally be copyrighted to Tony Bartholomew, Adrian Gatie, Alec Russell, Ken Boden or Scarborough Theatre Trust. For reproduction enquiries, contact Tony Bartholomew via www.bartpics.co.uk; Adrian Gatie at ag@agphoto.co.uk and all other enquiries should be submitted to admin@alanayckbourn.net.

...find and buy Alan Ayckbourn's playscripts?

The Stephen Joseph Theatre always has in stock a complete collection of all Alan Ayckbourn's plays which are currently published. To contact the shop, visit www.sjt.uk.com or call 01723 356624. They will post internationally. Alternatively, the plays can be obtained directly from the publishers at www.samuelfrench-london.co.uk and www.faber.co.uk. Alternatively  www.abebooks.com (or co.uk) tend to carry a good selection of second-hand editions.

...find the published radio adaptations?

These are no longer in production, but can be found quite regularly at www.abebooks.com (or co.uk) or www.ebay.com (or co.uk).

... find and buy the commercially available DVDs?

The Stephen Joseph Theatre Shop keeps stock of all currently available DVDs. To contact the shop, visit www.sjt.uk.com or call 01723 356624.

...find the unpublished radio / television / film adaptations?

Simply put, you don't. The majority of multi-media adaptations have never been made available commercially and are thus not available. The Stephen Joseph Theatre Archive does not hold the filmed adaptations and holds only a limited number of the radio adaptations (which cannot be loaned or reproduced for obvious copyright reasons).

But what if I have found the filmed adaptations on Ebay? Are these legal?

In all likelihood these are illegal recordings of the adaptations and should immediately be reported to Ebay. These adaptations are not in the public domain, have not been authorised by the copyright holders and are being illegally sold with proceeds going to people acting illegally. If you spot anything suspicious, please report it.
